Look how far we've come!

The lovely and generous Heather Davis was with me when I was doing massive revisions on HOW TO SALSA IN A SARI and she was convinced this was going to be the book that would sell. I was not. But she made me keep on keeping on and I am SO grateful to her, I can't even describe it in words.

I met Heather for lunch at Serious Pie, Tom Douglas's pizzeria on Saturday afternoon. She looked amazing. The adorable outfit, the rockin' red hair, her amazing @ss from walking up and down the hills of Seattle;)

Excellent food. Great service. We had a bruschetta and then split a mozzerella and tomato pizza. Simple, delicious. Between the two of us, we didn't even finish half our food :)

Then we walked up to Urban Outfitters and picked up some cute things for the conference....then to Banana Republic where Heather got the cutest swimsuit and I got the cream blazer I've been dying for. Yay!

We spent the rest of the afternoon at Caffe D'Arte (I had something called a Dolce Fine...cream and espresso rimmed with brown sugar...like an espresso margarita....incredible!) people-watching and talking about how lucky we are. It was literally a year ago that both of us were getting to the point of frustration. We had agents, we had books that our agents love. We were not selling. We were getting rejection after rejection. We were about to lose our minds.

And now look at us, a year later. Heather is a GH winner and her HARDCOVER book is going to be the HIT of Harper's Summer or Fall Catalog. I'm going to have two books out in 2008 writing ethnic-lit.

We both have agents who we love and who believe in us 100%.

We are part of the amazing Buzz Girls group and I can't believe just how much luck this group of ladies has brought me.

Both of us are super-pumped for Dallas and are even planning our schedule down to the meticulous detail. Tera, me and Heather sharing a room, Chicklit party, Teen lit tea, Harlequin Party, Buzz Girls meeting...we are going to ROCK Dallas this year!

I can't wait to see what comes next

How fun, Dona. I'm jealous... I don't have any girlfriends close by at the moment. But I am so glad I've been able to share part of your journey with you. Unless we get really, really lucky, I think we've all gone through that crazy, why am I doing this, it'll never happen, ever time. Persistence and patience are the most important virtues of a writer.

Hugs and I can't believe you're packed three weeks in advance!

Kelli and I are gearing up for Dallas, too, Dona! Can't wait to see you gals there! I'm SOOOOOOO thrilled for both you and Heather and your upcoming releases! Here's hoping a little of that wonderful success will rub off on me! :-)

Oh, Dona... You are the best. I also had the greatest time on our downtown outing. Thanks for the props on the appearace, you do know you are my most beautiful friend ever, right? True story... No one else could rock the red suede stiletto boot on the uneven sidewalks of Seattle like you.

I knew when I read Salsa that you were on the verge. I think you knew that about Never Cry Werewolf, too. Somehow we found each other at the right time to help seal the deal, so to speak.

Cheers to you on all the success, and thanks so so so much for all your support and postitve energy. I love that when I sat down at Serious Pie you leaned across the pine table and said, "Tell me everything."

You are a jewel.

xxo,

Heather
